Literacy Leaders

Our Literacy Leaders involves Sixth Form students dedicate their Form Time, twice a week, to read with Year 7 students. 

It is our intention that this programme will encourage students to read, and utilise the library to discover a love of reading.

At the end of last term, we asked for feedback from Year 7s and 12s:

10 out of 12 of the Year 7 students said they would recommend it to their friends and 9 out of 12 of these students said they had used the library more since attending Literacy Leaders.

The 10 Sixth Formers all advised they would recommend the role to their peers and that the best part for all of them has been getting to know the students and “lighting up a love of reading in younger students”.
